What is Karndean made of?
Karndean flooring is made up of pure virgin PVC with high quality plasticizers and is manufactured to create a textured surface which replicates the natural products.
Will a Karndean floor be slippery?
As with most smooth floorcoverings, water and other liquids on the surface of the floor can make them slippery. Karndean floors do have high levels of non-slip properties but to prevent slipping clean up and spillages immediately and keep the floor dry.
What is the difference between each of the Karndean ranges?
The difference between the ranges; Knight Tile, Renoir, Van Gogh, Michelangelo and Da Vinci, is that each product has a different wear layer, therefore has a different life expectancy.
Knight-Tile — 0.3mm Wear Layer — 12 years
Michelangelo — 0.5mm Wear Layer (Registered Emboss) — 12 years
Renoir — 0.5mm Wear Layer — 15 years
Van Gogh — 0.5mm Wear Layer — 15 years
Da Vinci — 0.7mm Wear Layer (bevelled edges) — 20 years
What is the difference between a Metallic Strips, Feature Strips, and Design Strip?
Strips give a contemporary feel to any Karndean floor when added between tiles & woodplanks to simulate grouting or to complement or contrast with the main product.
> Metallic Strip
Available in 3mm, 5mm, 10mm, 30mm and 76mm.
The Metallic Strips may be used in Standard Borders and features.
> Feature Strips
Available in 6 colors, these 5mm wide strips are usually used on tile floors to give the effect of natural grout lines or to complement woodplanks.
> Design Strips
These are strips cut from another tile or woodplank and are available in 3mm, 5mm, 10mm, 30mm and 76mm widths.
What is a Standard Border, Tramline Border, Keyline Border?
Standard Border
A standard border is a patterned border, designed to complement tile and woodplank floors. Karndean have selected an assortment of decorative border options to accompany all the ranges.
Tramline Border
These are a simple and affordable way of creating a decorative edging around your room. They can be specified using combinations of Feature Strips, Metallic Strips and Design Strips.
Keyline Border
These are single strips of product which can be added to the edge of your floor. Keyline borders are available in 3mm, 5mm, 10mm, 30mm and 76mm widths and can be specified using Metallic Strips and Design Strips.
